Small Batch Pottery, Commemorative Plates

This project is a series of community pottery workshops designed to address the loneliness epidemic, with a focus on creating meaningful, real-world connections for the queer community in Henderson-Massey. Through the creation of 100 commemorative plates, participants will have the opportunity to explore personal experiences and stories‚ both humorous and challenging‚that are unique to their lives as queer individuals.

The workshops will invite participants to design and decorate their own commemorative plate, inspired by the tradition of marking significant events such as royal weddings or historical moments. However, these plates will commemorate deeply personal moments from participants lives, such as overcoming adversity, embracing self-discovery, or celebrating a shared community experience. This focus on personal narrative and lived experience will allow participants to express their identity through art, while simultaneously building community bonds.
