Edith Amituanai Documentary

About the film

This film is an insight into Edith’s mahi of empowering children by teaching them how to tell stories and express themselves through using a camera.

Edith Amituanai is a Samoan photographer and youth worker based in Ranui. This short documentary will follow a Year Ten art class that Edith is co-teaching at Waitakere College. The students are making masks then recording the character they create through film and photography. This is a collaborative documentary, involving the students at Waitakere College in the creation of the film. The film will go on to be entered into international and national film festivals such as Sundance, Berlinale, imagineNATIVE, Doc Edge and Show Me Shorts.
