“Twins” (working title), is a series of black and white film photographs documenting 20 sets of twins of varying ages (11-18yrs old), ethnicities and backgrounds from the local board area.
The series of black and white photographs will portray a cross-section of kids and teenagers from the neighbourhoods of Henderson, Ranui, Glendene and Massey. The candid photographs seek to document and immortalise ordinary West Aucklanders lives’ in a strikingly beautiful way, through the theme of twins, both identical and fraternal. At the conclusion of the exhibition/s, the prints will be gifted to the families of the twins in each photograph.
This is a two part project where by we are contributing to the production of the photographs with the children and families involved, before supporting Anna to develop it as an exhibition.
Having worked as a documentary photographer in Brooklyn, New York for nearly a decade, Anna Delany now wishes to turn her lens toward her own community. She has independently produced highly successful student exhibitions at Studio One Toi Tū in Ponsonby, at Silo 6 in Silo Park and at Te Uru Waitākere Contemporary Gallery, as well as advocating for the Arts as a potential career path for these students going forward.
