Sensory Path Project

Sensory Path Project

Helen Ollivier’s project is to paint a sensory path as a piece of interactive art on the concrete next to the playground area at Te Atatu Peninsula Primary School. A sensory path is a colourful, creative and playful way for children to build sensory pathways, connections in the brain that are responsible for sight, touch and sound. Sensory paths get kids jumping, spinning, stomping, moving, playing and learning. A piece of interactive art in this area would really enhance the play environment. The path would be themed with native plants and animals and include instructions in te reo as well as Maori motifs throughout.

The playground at Peninsula Primary school is accessible to the public during and after school hours as it next to the pool where Swimsation operates. The playground is well used by local families coming and going for swim lessons and children meeting and playing after school and in the weekends.
