Being held Feb 2021 – April 2021, ‘Young at Art’ by YANZ will consist of a central hub and satellite hubs in each area of Auckland (Nth, Sth, W/E). The hubs will showcase the unique identities of each region, told through the perspectives of local youth art, music, designs and poetry.
These will be large physical structures that are ‘activated’ with performances. Each activation/event will last 3 hours and all performers will be compensated with a performance fee as well as fee for the commission + creation, installation etc of the structures that will showcase static pieces of artwork, poetry and design from local youth.
Those involved in the satellites will have the opportunity to then be involved in the central hub event which is a great opportunity for local youth for the exposure. The additional elements such as the physical/digital maps + stamps system are an integral part of this project also.
This project presents a good opportunity to extend the opportunities for local youth to network across the city, and will encourage young creatives to become part of the youth-led YANZ network, which is growing in strength in Auckland. YANZ connects young creatives with each other, as well as providing professional development opportunities with which young creatives can kickstart their creative careers.
