The ReCreators are a collective of artisans promoting creativity, mindful-making and sustainability. They want to offer free upcycling art activities for vulnerable communities.
The ReCreators will work with children in Manutewhau Hub and Ranui Community Centre to offer free Upcycling Art classes after school from 3-5pm. We will bring maker skills back such as sewing, weaving, painting, carpentry etc through the reuse and creativity of upcycling. Upcycling helps address the global waste problem and is also a form of positive therapy and promotes an autonomous voice.
During the Covid-19 lockdown, the ReCreators have pivoted their plans and are now also providing free online workshops for kids. These can be accessed via their Facebook and also on their website. These are a great way for parents to keep their little ones busy, while learning new skills and creating useful products.
The ReCreators will also be offering the Belong Aotearoa’s WISE Collective group Upcycling Art classes for their migrant and refugee woman.
