ReEarth Studio is an international arts platform that empowers young people through creativity, climate awareness, and community engagement. Launched last year with the ReEarth International Art Prize, the initiative received global submissions and hosted exhibitions in Auckland and Venice, building strong relationships with artists, educators, and communities worldwide.
For this project, ReEarth is directly connecting with the Henderson Massey Local Board area through a school engagement program and a culminating exhibition at Te Puna Creative Hub. This initiative provides a platform for local students and families to create and celebrate art within their community while connecting to a global stage.
The exhibition will feature a mix of international artworks alongside pieces created by local students from West Auckland schools. This dialogue between global and local voices will make the showcase both globally relevant and deeply rooted in the community. Te Puna will serve as an inspiring venue for the next New Zealand exhibition of the ReEarth International Art Prize.
About Shoaib Iqbal
“I am an Edmund Hillary Fellow with over 20 years of experience in arts education, cultural programming, and international collaborations. I founded The Little Art, which has engaged over a million children and youth globally through creative education initiatives, and established landmark festivals such as the Lahore International Children’s Film Festival and Tamasha Festival.
My leadership journey includes roles such as Head of Arts at British Council Pakistan, fellowships with Asia21, Acumen, and ArtThink South Asia, and postgraduate training at the Kennedy Center’s DeVos Institute of Arts Management in Washington D.C.
Building on this background, I launched the ReEarth International Art Prize in 2024, successfully delivering its first cycle with exhibitions in Auckland and Sharjah. This year, ReEarth is expanding to Venice alongside New Zealand programming, demonstrating my ability to design and deliver impactful arts projects that connect local communities to international platforms while fostering creativity, climate awareness, and youth participation.”
“We need to show the value of art, through experiences where children and young people can relate to it. This starts to shift thinking that art is not essential, or just a luxury. It is life.”
